Today I opened to 1 Corinthians, so on todays pages were a number of things to talk about.  As always, my interpretations are mine and if they resonate with you in any way awesome.  If not, then hopefully they will at least bring attention to the passage or just pass over them here.

I recommend reading 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14.

First topic it mentions is about there being many gifts from GOD.  All are from the same spirit tho.  "There are varieties of  gifts, but from the same spirit, and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working, but it is the same GOD who inspires them all in everyone..  To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good....1 COR  12:4-7

It goes on to say to one is given wisdom, another knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, ability to distinguish spirits, speaking in tongues.  All are apportioned out by the Spirit as He wills.  Are for a purpose.  My purpose is to transcribe prophecy.  Not as in Elijah or Jeremiah etc, but in poem form.  One definition of a prophet is simply, "one who receives spiritual messages".  Technically, I do. Anyways, others have other purposes, and I have met and know others with some of the other gifts mentioned by Paul.  All of us have a gift of some sort and some degree.  Few realize it, or do and misuse it.  We are all part of one body and as such have a crucial part in the functioning of the one body. 

If the whole body was an eye, where would be the hearing?    1 Corinthians 12:17

But GOD has so adjusted the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior part, that there may be no discord in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.  If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together... 1 Corinthians 12:24-26

That's big part of why mankind is such a mess, for one member of the BODY, is always trying to control the whole.
If you have you gift, it is to be used in service to the BODY.  If others do not understand it, then you are to help them to understand it.  For example, if you speak in tongues, that is all well and good, but who else knows what the heck you are saying?  You have to explain it. 

Next topic is love, ah love, that sweet, glorious gift of GOD, that soooo few even know what it is.  Most think they know, but they do not.  We manifest our human love in our minds, out of need to feel it or give it.  Out of need for fulfillment or plug a hole in ourselves.  So we manifest it and try and cast it upon others, with the assumption or expectation or condition of reciprocation of some sort.  This is not love.  True and pure love can only come from GOD. 

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude.  Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.  Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends......1 Corinthians  13:4-8
We do not fully understand it, but will in time.   
Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.  So faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.    1 Corinthians 13:12-13
He fully understands us, knows us, what we truly need and yearn for.  In time we will fully understand His love and know what love truly is.  

Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophecy....1 Corinthians 14:1
Thus, tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is not for unbelievers but for believers.....1 Corinthians 14:22

If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that what I am writing to you is a command of the Lord.  If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.  So, my brethren, earnestly desire prophecy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues; but all things should be done decently and in order....1 Corinthians 14:37-40

Then Jesus said to his disciples:  "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear......Consider the ravens:  They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet GOD feeds them.  And how much more valuable you are than birds!  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to their life?....Luke 12:22-25
